Beggar's Banquet

With stories as his only currency
He buys himself out of captivity
Propelling him once again
On the convoluted path homeward.
Telemachus returns first and
Learns the beggar's true identity
To be that of his father, Odysseus,
Twenty years away from Penelope.
With the suitors slaughtered,
Palace grounds washed clean,
The city-sacker wonders how he'll escape
Ithacan retribution for his misdeeds.
