How is it that the lure of the ground
Can be so appealing?
“Just this once,” ground pleads,
“I won’t bother you again, I swear.”
Okay, we say, just this once.
With a slight release, we lock into
Gravity, and bam!
Was it worth it, did ground get what
It wants? Of course not.
Like a greedy negotiator,
Ground is never satisfied until we’re
Six feet under.
Ground got us to fall and left
Us with nothing but broken spirits,
Shooting pain, and kettles full of boiled
Time at the ER just to move
From negative to
Zero.
