Midori Tonbo

Midori Tonbo

Green dragonfly,
You didn’t decide to end your
Life on the threshold of
My front doorstep, but
That’s where you ended up.
You were flapping through the
Ether when it became abundantly
Clear at 15:21 on a Sunday in August
That your declining muscle mass
And hardening exoskeleton
Were failing you catastrophically.
Squeezing every last Adenosine triphosphate
From your screaming mitochondria
You weaseled one last weak
Landing into my yellow door jamb
And checked out.
