縁詞 (Poems of Fate)

縁詞 (Poems of Fate)

Kate, the warrior
battle-ready
Sword in one hand, shield in the other.
The blood of a rose, the strength of
a lion.
From under a furoshiki, an iris
is revealed.
Her music on my tongue
enters my veins.
Rainbowed coursing of blood.
Lilacs, lilies, and chocolate.
----
Years thinking about her,
suddenly, beauty at the cafe table
before me.
She brings food of her making-
all heart.
Tastes and smells send me over
rivers and rice fields.
Lahore, Mumbai, and Jakarta.
